Thomas Farrar Whitley was born 11 May 1906 in Leeds, England to George Henry Whitley and Mary Ann Farrar Whitley. His family joined the LDS Church and eventually moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Tom accepted a call to serve in the Tonga Mission, where he served from Mar. 1935-Feb. 1938. On Sept. 30, 1938, he married Caroline Dorothy Gunderson, with whom he had six children. Lang, John Dunmore, 1799-1878

Lang was born in Scotland, received his MA (1820) at Glasgow University and arrived in Australia in 1823. He established the first Presbyterian Church in Australia (Scots Church, opened 1826) and was a member of the Council and Legislative Assembly (1859).
